UNIVERSITÉ DE
MONTRÉAL'S MIL CAMPUS
Université de Montréal’s teaching and research activities were expanded to a new site (MIL campus) located in the Outremont borough which is close to its main campus.
The initial development phase of this new site involved decontaminating and urbanizing the site which had been used as a railway yard for close to a century. The next phase involved building the Science Complex, a new pavilion with two wings that house four of UdeM’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences departments (chemistry, physics, geography and biology).
Phase 2 involved expanding the Science Complex which required the addition of two new wings to the east and to the west of phase 1 and the addition of a new installation, Institut Courtois, a basic research institute made possible by a historic philanthropic donation from the Fondation J. Courtois.
